Mark Allen Fouts, 60, of Mooresville, was involved in a multiple vehicle accident at the intersection of Shinnville Road and U.S. 21. Fouts failed to stop at a red light and struck a vehicle traveling on U.S. 21. Fouts’ car then struck an unoccupied, parked vehicle nearby.

EMS and Mooresville Fire-Rescue responded to the scene and found Fouts unresponsive. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but police said they believe Fouts suffered a medical condition which caused the accident and his death.

It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured in the first vehicle that was struck.

The investigation is continuing, police said.
