The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality is in the midst of an ongoing investigation concerning the collapse pavement over a sinkhole in Mooresville.

WINSTON-SALEM - The town of Mooresville’s population grew by 29 percent from 2009 to 2018, according to city officials. That growth is presenting logistical issues for the city’s first responders.
Citing concerns of increased housing density levels and traffic, the Mooresville Board of Commissioners on Monday unanimously denied a request to rezone about 130 acres of property on Rinehardt Road and East Plaza Drive to make way for the construction of hundreds of town homes, single-family residences and commercial businesses.
Twenty-three people will have to move for the expansion of U.S. 21.
