MOORESVILLE Betty Irene Ritchie Lilley, 95, of Mooresville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Lilley was born June 19, 1924, in Carmichaels, Pa., the daughter of the late Andrew and Blanche Waters Ritchie. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Andrew, Mary and Florence. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, James F. Lilley; daughter, Deborah Jellison (Steve) of Jacksonville, Fla.; son, Brent Jay Lilley (Adriana) and his daughters, Briana & Aveline Lilley, Mooresville; her like-a-son, Daniel Devere, Rosamond, Calif.; her sister Lora Jean Christopher, Uniontown, PA; her beloved nieces and nephews, April, Lori, Nancy, Bradley, David and Harmon; and her grand-dogs, Baxter, Molly and Coco. Betty grew up in Fairbank, Pa., and graduated from Redstone High School. When she and James married they moved to Columbus, Ohio where they lived for 40 years before retiring to Florida. Betty was a secretary for the Columbus Public Schools for many years then after retirement, she co-owned and operated an assisted living facility in Florida. Throughout her life she was a faithful member of churches in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Florida, and in her final 20 years, Coddle Creek ARP Church in Mooresville. Betty will be remembered for always living simply, loving generously, hugging often, caring deeply, speaking kindly, and for her steadfast faith in God. Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Coddle Creek ARP Church, 2297 Coddle Creek Hwy., Mooresville, NC 28115; or Hope Haven, a nonprofit for children with disabilities, 4600 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207.
