SALISBURY, N.C. – Women's volleyball junior outside hitter Lillie Kate Rogers and football redshirt sophomore running back Jay Moore earned Sept. 15 Catawba Athletics Budd Group Athlete of the Week honors.
Rogers led Catawba to a perfect 3-0 week with her productive attacking. On Tuesday, the junior recorded 15 kills on an efficient .406 hitting percentage in a 3-0 sweep over Emory & Henry. Rogers then posted a career-high 22 kills throughout a five-set thrilling victory at Tusculum. To cap it off, the outside hitter recorded a .385 attack percentage with 12 kills while sweeping Mars Hill on the road.
Moore made the play of the game on Saturday at Mars Hill. With just 28 seconds left and down seven points, the running back received a short pass to the left side, in which he ran past countless defenders and took 65 yards to the end zone for the Catawba Indians to force overtime. The redshirt sophomore led the blue and white with 116 yards from scrimmage.
