ELON, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's cross country team began the 2026 campaign at the Elon Friday Night Lights meet, competing in the 4k race and placing fifth as a team among 15 schools in the field. Friday night's meet was the first collegiate 4k for all 10 Spartan runners.
Junior Hailey Meyers paced the Spartans, cruising to a top-10 finish in Elon as she placed 10th out of 146 total runners with a time of 14:37.3. Vicky Sosa was UNCG's next finisher, crossing the line 32nd after clocking in at 15:19.7.
Camryn Oates led a pack of Spartans between 39th and 50th with a time of 15:26.8, closely followed by Keira Mansure (41st, 15:28.8) and Erica Rash (44th, 15:36.8). Freshman Olivia Arnold rounded out the top 50 overall finishers as she clocked in at 15:46.0 in her first collegiate race.
Tenley Douglass (16:32.3) and Joelle Tonne (17:08.9) closed out UNCG's remaining upperclassmen finishers, while Emily Graff (17:36.6) and Sasha Helmer (17:57.5) joined Arnold in completing their first race as Spartans.
The Spartans as a team placed fifth with 155 points, trailing the hosting Phoenix (21), Davidson (93), Catawba (106), and Campbell (109). UNCG beat out in-state foes High Point (211), ECU (219), and UNCW (280) while also placing above local opponents Coastal Carolina (265) and Winthrop (231).
The Spartans are back in action on Friday, Sept. 18, both the men and women heading to Cary, North Carolina, to take part in the adidas XC Challenge at the WakeMed Soccer Park Cross Country Course.
